1,088 lists of candidates for the legislative elections of 4 May 2017 have been submitted across the national territory and abroad, announced Monday in Algiers Interim General Manager of Interior Ministry’s department for liberties and legal affairs Amara Lakhdar.

The official hosted a news conference marking the end of the submission of the lists of the candidates, Sunday at midnight.

1,023 lists were submitted in Algeria and 65 others at the Algerian diplomatic representations, Lakhdar detailed.

He also added that 796 lists were submitted by political parties and 128 lists were part of political alliances while 164 lists were presented by independent candidates.

The interior ministry official said that only the parties of the National Liberation Front (FLN), the National Democratic Rally (RND) and Tajamou Amal El Jazair ( Rally for Algeria hope) (TAJ) have submitted lists in all the 48 provinces of the country and all the four electoral districts abroad.

The electorate is estimated at 23 276 550 enrolled voters, including 956 534 voters among the national community abroad.
