Amid Tunisian Turmoil, Academic States Important figures Related to Ennahda Movement

The prominent academic stated in a post on his Facebook account “some important figures in the context of the Tunisian crisis” related to Ennahda Movement.

In the context of the Tunisian crisis, Khalil Al-Anani, an associate professor of political science and chair of Politics and International Relations Program at Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar, stated that the Ennahda Movement’s share in Parliament since 2011 was as follows:

  • 89 seats out of 217, by 40% (in the 2011-2014 National Constituent Assembly),
  •  69 seats out of 217, by 31.7% (in the 2014-2018 Parliament),
  • 54 seats out of 217, by 24.8% (in the 2019- Parliament).

The Ennahda Movement’s share in various governments since 2011 was as follows:

  • The government of Hamadi Jebali (of the Ennahda Movement) between late 2011 and March 2013. There were 30 ministers, including 15 ministers from the Ennahda Movement, by 50%,
  • The government of Ali Al-Arayedh (from the Ennahda Movement) from March 2013 to January 2014. There were 27 ministers, including 10 ministers from the Ennahda Movement, by 37%,
  • The government of Mehdi Jomaa (from outside Ennahda Movement) from January 2014 to February 2015. There were 21 independent, with no minister from the Ennahda Movement, by 0%,
  • The government of Habib Essid (from outside Ennahda Movement) from February 2015 to August 2016. There were 26 ministers, including only one minister from the Ennahda Movement, by 3.8%,
  • The government of Youssef Chahed (from outside Ennahda Movement) from August 2016 to February 2020. There were 26 ministers, including 3 ministers from the Ennahda Movement, by 11.5%,
  • The government of Elias Fakhfakh (from outside Ennahda Movement) from February 2020 to September 2020. There were 30 ministers, including 6 ministers from the Ennahda Movement, by 20%,
  • The government of Hisham Al-Mashishi (from outside Ennahda Movement) from September 2020 to July 2021. There were 25 ministers, with no minister from the Ennahda Movement, by 0%.

 Also, Ennahda Movement’s share in the presidency since 2011 was 0%, concludes Dr, Khalil Al-Anani.
