Cooperation at center of Madrid talks between Algerian and Spanish police

The cooperation between the Algeria and Spanish police forces in the exchange of information, training and fight against organized crime was at the center of the talks Tuesday, in Madrid, between the National Police Chief Major General Abdelghani Hamel and Spanish Minister of Interior Juan Ignacio Zoido.

The talks, which took place in the presence of the Director General of the Spanish Police German Lopez Iglesias, focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the exchange of information, training and fight against crime in all its forms.

The two sides emphasized the need to intensify consultations and coordination between the national bodies in the two countries to ensure the security of citizens, protect their property and fight against crime in all its forms.

In a statement following the meeting, Major General Hamel said that it (meeting) allowed broaching all that has been achieved in terms of cooperation between the two countries’ police forces, particularly in terms of exchange of expertise and experience, technical support and training.

He added that his visit to Spain will contribute to the strengthening of partnership between the police forces of both countries and consolidation of cooperation mechanisms.
