5 PKK terrorists ‘neutralized’, 3 Syrian PYD/PKK arrested in Hakkari and Van, SE Turkey

At least five PKK terrorists have been neutralized in airstrikes carried out by armed drones in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province, according to military sources, reported Anadolu Agency.

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, said early Tuesday that five terrorists were “neutralized” in the province’s Cukurca district.

Separately, a Syrian national PYD/PKK terrorist was arrested in the eastern Van province’s Caldiran district and two other Syrian national terrorists were arrested in Oncupinar in the southeastern province of Kilis, the sources added.

Including the new numbers, the total number of neutralized terrorists in operations across Hakkari between Aug. 4 and Sept. 20 has risen to 292.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
